Our day begins with the whisper of dawn as we set off from Lucca, the crisp morning air filled with the promise of adventure. But first, a stop for coffee and a traditional Italian breakfast – an essential ritual before a day of exploration. With our spirits high and our energy fueled, we hit the road, knowing that the journey itself is as delightful as the destination.
The road to San Gimignano is not just a means of transport; it's a visual feast. A two-hour drive
spanning 125 kilometers, this route is a blend of elegance and nature. We follow the highway to
Florence, and then our path leads us to Greve in Chianti.
The final leg, the S222, is where the magic
happens. This stretch of road, Instagram famous and adorned with quintessential Tuscan landscapes,
offers a picturesque preview of the treasures to come.
As we enter San Gimignano, the town's famous towers pierce the sky, a sight that never fails to
captivate. Stepping onto its cobblestone streets feels like stepping back in time. The well-preserved
medieval architecture creates an enchanting atmosphere, reminiscent of a bygone era. If time allows,
we climb the Torre Grossa, the tallest tower, for panoramic views that stretch over the town and the
rolling hills beyond, painting a picture of Tuscany's timeless allure.
Do not forget to buy tickets for the Duomo upfront (8 euro’s), especially in summer time.

The scent of freshly baked bread mingles with the lively chatter of locals in the piazzas, creating a vibrant ambiance.
A visit to the Piazza della Cisterna, the heart of San Gimignano, is a must, crowned by an ancient well and surrounded by buildings steeped in history. And of course, no visit is complete without indulging in a scoop of gelato from the world- famous Sergio Dondoli, a true Tuscan delight.
